What is the Autonomic Nervous System?
The human body is constantly being monitored, controlled and organized by an intelligent, bioelectric force called life. Life circulates on our bodies by way of the autonomic nervous system (ANS). The ANS is in direct contact with every cell. muscle and tissue, and it knows exactly what is happening inside our bodies at all times. It is our functional nervous system. The ANS regulates breathing, heart rate, digestion, immune function, sleep patterns, hormone regulation, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, tissue regeneration, and liver and kidney detoxification.
The ANS has two parts: the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) and the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS). The SNS acts as an accelerator, speeding things up, where the PSNS acts as the brake, slowing things down. Healthy people can regulate between the SNS and the PSNS. Sick people have autonomic dysregulation to varying degrees. They seem to be stuck with either the accelerator or the brakes on. This is called blocked regulation. (See below)
What Is Nutrition Response Testing?
NRT grew out of the importance of detecting and correcting problems of the ANS. It is a safe and simple method of analyzing the body's structural, physical and nutritional needs. NRT is not a method of diagnosing diseases, it is a means by which the body's own responses are used to accurately determine the root cause of a health problem. It allows the Practitioner to correct the problems of the ANS and to help restore the self regulating mechanism of the body, allowing the patient to return to a state of health.
Most often, in traditional medicine, the symptoms of a health problem are treated while the actual cause remains undetected. High blood pressure, GERD and irritable bowel disease are examples of ill health where Practitioners give medication to treat the symptoms, but are unable to find the source of the symptoms.
NRT is a system of evaluation and treatment developed by Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, PhD (in Neurology) and Louisa Williams, DC, ND. It is the only form of kinesiology, or muscle testing that has a regulation test and recognizes the importance of the ANS. Dr. Klinghardt believes that many practitioners using muscle testing in their practices are often getting inaccurate information because the ANS is not functioning properly. In NRT, this is called blocked regulation and refers to the inability of me ANS to self regulate. It means that most of the intelligent, bioelectric energy we call life, is being used to do something in the body: clean, fix, detoxify, balance, etc. Blocked regulation tells us that you do not have any excess energy to heal and that most of your energy is being used to hold together an overwhelmed body, so that it can stay alive. What does all
this mean? If you are sick or your regulation is blocked, your ability to heal is severely limited. Anything you or anyone else does for you will not work with any amount of satisfaction until you figure out what is blocking your regulation. Blocked regulation can be caused by several common factors. These include: heavy metal poisoning, chemical toxicity, undiagnosed food allergies, chronic unresolved infections (virus, bacteria, parasites and yeast), scars and unresolved emotional issues, trauma or conflicts. NRT helps to find where the ANS disturbances are, the root causes for these and how the
various organs and body structures relate to each other. NRT assists in prioritizing system dysfunctions and allows custom tailoring of an individualized therapeutic approach to restore health.
Natural Health Practitioners continue to prove that most health disorders share the same root problems...... improper body function brought about by nutritional deficiencies and life style.
The Accuracy of NRT
A great degree of accuracy is possible with NRT. It will even pick up deficiencies at a sub-clinical level. That is, when the problem is so small that the person may not have any awareness of it at the present time and modem methods of testing could not detect it. Until NRT, the methods of determining the body's structural, physical and nutritional needs were costly, time consuming, and at times, frightening. The only means of finding a nutritional need was by a person's symptoms, expensive lab work and the doctor's knowledge of biochemistry, physiology and nutrition. At best, an educated guess was made.
Now, with NRT, the guess is no longer necessary. NRT is the finest natural method of guiding the health practitioner to the root of the problem. With NRT, the practitioner is also able to prove to the person that the source of the problem has been located and that the proper nutritional support has been given.
Amazing Facts About Your Body
*Except for your brain cells, 50,000,000 of the cells in your body will have died and been replaced with others while you have been reading this sentence.
*The adult heart beats about 40,000,000 times a year. In one hour, the heart works hard enough to produce enough energy to raise almost one ton of weight one yard from the ground.
*The liver is often called the body's chemical factory. Scientists have counted 500 different liver functions.
*The central nervous system is connected to every part of the body by 43 pairs of nerves. Twelve pairs go to and from the brain, and 31 go from the spinal cord. There are nearly 45 miles of nerves running through our body.
*Messages travel along the nerves as electrical impulses. The fastest they travel is about 248 miles per hour.
*In one square inch of skin, there are four yards of nerve fibers, 1300 nerve cells, 100 sweat glands, 3 million cells and three yard of blood vessels.
The point behind all of these facts is that your body is a wonderful, complex creation. Like a machine, all of its parts (organs, glands, muscles and tissues) must be in good working condition. Its ANS must be carrying energy and information smoothly to all areas. There must not be any short circuits. Finally, it must be fueled with the proper nutrition to keep it functioning well.
Conclusion
The results that we have been getting with NRT are in the 90% range and better. The only reason that I am here is to help you restore and maintain your health. If your purpose for coming to INSIDE-OUT is the same, then I look forward to being your
partner in health. I hope that this paper has given you a clear understanding of what NRT is and how it can be effective in bringing about a state of health to your body and life.
